Vietnam has issued the Marketing Authorisation Renewal Decree, which marks a significant milestone for the pharmaceutical sector. It provides a more sustainable mechanism to ensure the continued availability of medicines on the market for patient access. This applies to both imported medicines and those produced locally.

As a result, UK businesses will benefit from reduced complexity during the marketing authorisation renewal process. Pending marketing authorisation renewal dossiers that were submitted before 31 December 2024 will have automatic validity – UK businesses do not need to submit or resubmit any document.
