Barriers to exporting UK professional qualifications to China

in China

Trade barrier summary

The Chinese Ministry of Human Resource and Social Security's agency, the Occupational Skill Testing Authority, previously maintained a list of overseas professional qualifications. Qualifications included on this list were considered to be approved by the Chinese government. This list is no longer being updated and awarding bodies or qualifications will no longer be added. Despite the list no longer being updated, overseas professional qualifications are not automatically recognised by the Chinese government. This means that different qualifications must follow different procedures to secure Chinese government approval and enter the market, thereby creating barriers for overseas businesses.
