UK Exporters are currently unable to export Pome Fruits (Apples, Pears and Quinces) to India due to the requirement for Methyl bromide fumigation as a pest control mechanism before export. The UK Department for International Trade and the UK Department for the Environment, Food and Rural affairs are working with the Indian Plant Protection Division to seek recognition for UK cold treatment methods for pest control.
