Removal of double accreditation requirement for UK universities in Mauritius
in MauritiusTrade barrier summary
Due to regulatory measures, UK universities setting up in Mauritius had to undergo a separate accreditation process with the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The processing time for this would take 18 to 24 months, which meant that institutions faced delays in market entry.
Following engagement with relevant authorities in Mauritius, a memorandum of understanding was agreed, which removes the need for the double accreditation for UK universities. This change makes it easier for UK universities to operate in Mauritius.
