Brazil’s regulatory agency, the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) has a 'positive' list of plant species allowed for commercialisation of tea in the market. However, this list does not include a number of plant species present in UK tea brands, which mans that these particular teas cannot exported to Brazil.

ANVISA currently regulates tea ingredients on a 'positive list' basis, meaning that each ingredient included in tea preparations needs approval to be added onto their ‘positive list.’ This differs from the ‘negative list’, which instead regulates exclusively/bans substances that are not allowed.
