Restrictions on bicycle, footwear and electronics exports to Indonesia

in Indonesia

Trade barrier summary

Under Trade Ministry Regulation No. 68/2020, footwear, electronics, bicycles and tricycles exports are obliged to have an Import Approval (PI) and a Surveyor’s Report (LS) to enter the Indonesian market. Further to this, import supervision will be conducted inside the customs areas, instead of outside these areas – as it had been previously.

This regulation intends to reduce the import of these goods, in response to an increase in commercial imports by 50.64% in May-June 2020; as well as an increase in personal imports, driving up domestic prices.
This regulation was issued on 19 August 2020 and came into force 28 August 2020.
