In Brazil, any genetic material - ranging from live animals for reproduction to embryos and semen - needs to comply with sanitary requirements. This compliance is met through a bilateral Export Health Certificate agreement, in which the exporting country agrees to meet in full the sanitary demands from the importing country.

The UK has now agreed with Brazil a simplified process which is a more cost-effective process for British exporters
