Removal of land requirement for foreign university campuses
in ThailandTrade barrier summary
Thailand previously required foreign universities to secure at least 100 rai (around 16 hectares) of land to establish a campus, making it extremely difficult and expensive for international institutions to enter the market, especially those seeking urban locations such as Bangkok.
Following policy changes, the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) has now created exceptions to this land requirement and the original 100‑rai rule has been revoked.
