In 2004, the UK applied for permission to export pork to Taiwan, however this failed due to the outbreak of foot and mouth disease. In 2017, the UK was recognised as free from the disease in and passed the facility inspection.

After long term engagement at all levels, export permission for UK pork to Taiwan was issued in August 2018.
