UK exporters of animal and animal-based products and plant and plant-based products to Thailand may experience delays to market entry, due to:

- limited resources for on-site inspections, with exporting countries required to bear the cost
- non-transparent risk assessment procedures for meat and dairy imports stemming from country establishment approval requirements
- import restrictions on several animals and animal products relating to bovine spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) as well as certain plant and plant products
- excessive import permit fees collected on uncooked red meat, poultry, and meat offal
