Italy has published guidance on importing food contact materials
in ItalyTrade barrier summary
UK businesses exporting or considering exporting food contact materials can now find detailed guidance in English regarding European and Italian legislation applying to these materials. For example, it clarifies the types of safety certificates that are required for any goods intended to come into contact with food. A lack of clarity on safety certificates was previously leading to customs delays on these products.
UK businesses should follow the guidance to mitigate the risk of there being errors in the documents they need to present at Italy’s border.
You can find further details in ‘Information on import of food contact materials (FCMs)’, published on 30 October 2024 on Italy’s Ministry of Health government website.
