in Norway

Trade barrier summary

For Norwegian joint stock companies, public limited companies and cooperatives, the general manager and at least half of company board members must either be resident in Norway or be both citizens of and resident in a European Economic Area (EEA) state.

After 1 January 2021, the UK will no longer be treated as an EEA state. UK nationals who are not resident in Norway or another EEA state will need to apply for dispensation from the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry to continue to serve on company boards or as Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) after the end of this year (31 December 2020).
