Previously, only 5 star hotels and duty-free outlets could import spirits to Myanmar. In May 2020, this was partially resolved due to legislation being passed that would allow limited retail sales. However, the procedure for obtaining necessary licences is still unclear and there remain concerns around ‘exclusive distributorship’.
