Greater market access for UK liqueurs in Malaysia
in MalaysiaTrade barrier summary
Following sustained engagement between the UK and Malaysian governments, amendments to Malaysia’s Food Regulations Act 1985 have resolved a long-standing barrier affecting UK liqueur exports. These changes ensure that the definition of this product is updated to properly reflect its nature, resulting in accurate tariff classification and compliance with Malaysian standards.
The amendments will take effect from 1 April 2026. However, products that comply with the new amendments can now be exported into Malaysia.
This change provides UK exporters with greater certainty and improved market access for liqueurs.
