Securing market access for exports of UK lamb meat to India
in IndiaTrade barrier summary
Market access for UK lamb meat exports has been opened up, however work is ongoing to secure improved market access. Indian requirements go beyond international standards of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) regarding TSEs (Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies) - the country of export needs to be free of both BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy), scrapie and a number of non-notifiable diseases. The flock of origin also needs to be disease-free for a period of time.
