Indian requirements go beyond international standards of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) regarding TSEs (Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies) - the country of export needs to be free of both BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy), scrapie and a number of non-notifiable diseases. The flock of origin also needs to be disease-free for a period of time.
