The UK government collaborated with Ugandan counterparts in the development of Uganda's Carbon Markets Framework. Previously, Uganda lacked a legal framework for carbon trade which hindered private sector investment.
Following UK government support, the regulations were passed into law. The new legal framework enables UK exporters and investors to invest in Uganda’s carbon market where interest was previously deterred.
