Easier recognition of UK-qualified engineers in Italy
in ItalyTrade barrier summary
The UK Engineering Council and Italian Engineering Certification body (CertING) have signed an Admissions Pathways Agreement. This streamlines how the UK and Italy recognise professional engineering certifications.
The formal recognition process remains in place under Italian law, but UK businesses employing UK-qualified engineers can now benefit from a simpler application to the Italian Ministry of Justice. The agreement:
- reduces the amount of documentation required
- supports quicker and more consistent assessment of applications
- may remove the need for additional tests or compensatory measures
- helps UK-qualified engineers access opportunities, such as public procurement, on a more equal basis
